New Blind Legislations
Are your blinds and curtains safe?
Kids and cords do not mix! A baby or young child can become entangled in curtain or blind cords in a matter of seconds. This can happen when cords are too long or end in a loop. If a child slips, moves quickly or plays with a cord the cord can act like a noose and choke the child.
Since January 1, 2015 there has been a mandatory standard for the installation of corded blinds, curtains and all other window furnishings. This standard does not apply to existing blinds, but what is the cost of a life? It would be a good safety practice to make sure that no loose cords can form a loop of 20cm or longer, at less than 160 cm off the floor.
